Tracts of rangeland and timberland, ranging from 40 to 155 acres, are being offered for sale by the Department of State Lands on a first-come, first-served basis until Dec. 31, 2009.

The 10 parcels remain after six were sold at a public oral auction in La Grande in March. All properties will be sold at the appraised value.

The relatively isolated location of the parcels makes them candidates for other agencies or nearby property owners to manage more effectively than the Salem-based agency can, said John Lilly, Asset Manager for the Department of State Lands (DSL).

Most of the properties in Wallowa County are steep, rocky, mountainous and surrounded by Forest Service owned land. The properties include forested and range parcels near Meacham, Baker City, Cove and La Grande.

More information, including detailed descriptions of the parcels and the sale process, is available on the DSL Web site: www.oregonstatelands.us, or by calling Clara Taylor at the DSL office: 503-986-5276.
