Wallowa County Stockgrowers Association is planning a day’s worth of activities this Saturday, Aug. 18.

It starts with a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. and ends with an awards dinner and dance at 7 p.m., all at Cloverleaf Hall. The doors will open in the evening for a social hour at 6 p.m.

Sandwiched in between will be the Stockgrowers’ Ranch Rodeo, including the 4th annual World Champion Rock Jack Competition, starting at noon at the Wallowa County Fairgrounds. See page B1 for details.

The public is invited to all activities. The cost for breakfast is $8.

Guest speakers at the breakfast gathering include Oregon Cattlemen’s Association president Curtis Martin of Powder River who will speak on water issues; and Skye Krebs of Wallowa, former president of the national Public Lands Council, whose topic will be universal monitoring.

The association’s evening awards dinner program will include award presentations to Grassman of the Year and Honorary Stockgrower. The barbecued beef dinner costs $15 per adult, $6 for children 12 and under and free for kids under 2.
