It seems every year when the Christmas season rolls around, there is always some one who has to ruin the warm glow most folks feel when they put up lights and other decorations for others to enjoy.
Last weekend a petty thief outdid himself as a destroyer of Christmas spirit by stealing the baby Jesus from a nativity scene in front of the Alpine Chiropractic Clinic across North St. from Safeway. This was their second Christmas in the clinic for chiropractors John and Billie Suto, and the first year they decorated for the holiday here.
"We bought it brand-new the day after Christmas last year," said Dr. Billie Suto about the nativity scene, which consisted of three pieces - Mary, Joseph and Jesus - that lighted up automatically after dark. Also stolen was a star of lights that hung on the clinic building above the nativity scene.
The decorations were stolen sometime between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, Dec. 7-8.
"If someone needs a baby Jesus in their lives that bad, then they can keep him," said Dr. Suto. "However, if they are done with him, we would sure appreciate them returning baby Jesus and the star, no questions asked. Just sneak them back the same way they stole them.
She said there is no desire to prosecute, just to see the items returned.
