Mlitary veterans, current service members and others who work in harm's way will get a free train ride next weekend under sponsorship of the architectural firm of Anderson Perry & Associates of La Grande.

For the third year, Wallowa Union Railroad and its partners will provide a free ride for veterans, active-duty military, fire, safety and law enforcement personnel to thank them for their service. The Eagle Cap Excursion train departs at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, from the Elgin depot site. The journey is approximately two hours long and overflow crowds may take a second train at 1 p.m. if the first fills up.

Each qualified free passenger may bring one guest at no charge. Additional guests are $25 each. Refreshments will be served.

Reservations are required for all passengers; call Alegre Travel, 963-9000 or 800 323-7330.
