Annice Rowe, 101, of Enterprise, died April 22, 2004, at the Wallowa Valley Care Center. She was born July 27, 1902, to Kenneth and Bertha Millard in Enterprise.

While still in high school, Annice began working in the Enterprise Post Office, eventually becoming assistant postmaster and retiring after 39 years of service in 1960. She graduated from Enterprise High School and married Lawrence Rowe in 1945 after he returned from serving in the Navy for four years during WWII. She was an active member of the Enterprise First Baptist Church, playing the organ at the church for 12 years. Annice and Lawrence enjoyed skiing and riding horses together, helping develop the first ski run in the county and belonging to the Wranglers Riding Club as part of the high speed precision drill team. In their later years the couple traveled to Arizona, Hawaii, Mexico and other places.

After Lawrence's death in 1989, Annice shared her home with friend Reta Thornburg and her daughter Oneta Owens. She considered Oneta and her sisters Clarice Southwick and Joanne Fitzgerald her adopted family.

Services were held April 27, 2004, at the Enterprise First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.
