Bernice Stringham Astwood, 96, died Dec. 3, 2002, in Orem, Utah. She was born Feb. 15, 1907, in Imbler to Luther Adelbert and Eliza Roxey Kellar Stringham, Union County pioneers and graduated from Imbler High School in 1925. She married Elmer L. Edwards in 1928, and later married Walter L Astwood in 1942 after a divorce.

Mrs. Astwood lived in Enterprise for 62 years until relocating to Utah to be near family. A fifth generation member of the LDS church, she was an accomplished pianist and served as ward organist since her teenage years.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Howard and Carolyn Edwards of Park City, Utah; daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Gary Hammond of Springville, Utah, and Fort Valley, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; a daughter, Joan Edwards Dieterle; a sister, Delta Stringham Zaugg; and brothers Lyle, Kellar, Walter and Grant Stringham.

A memorial service will he held in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 E. Center St., Provo, Utah, on Friday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m., where friends may call one hour prior to services. An additional funeral service will be held at the Enterprise LDS Ward Chapel on Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. where friends may also call one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at the Enterprise Cemetery.
