Longtime Milton-Freewater, resident, William A. "Bill" Heskett, Sr., died at Evergreen Milton-Freewater Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Bill was born in Enterprise to William F. and Dorothy A (McCormack) Heskett, the oldest of five children, He grew up in Wallowa County.

He married Sally s. Wright on June 6, 1954 in Lostine. The couple raised three children, before divorcing after nineteen years.

Bill worked as a logger before moving to Milton-Freewater, where he began his career of more than 40 years working for John Rea Trucking as a long-haul truck driver.

He married Lora Carolyn Woods Loebsack on July 3, 1975. The couple lived in Portland and raised one daughter. They divorced after seven years.

Bill returned to the Milton-Freewater area in 1982.

He loved reading westerns and watching John Wayne movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melva Wheeler; and companion, Louise Waldo.

He is survived by his previous wives, Sally Heskett of Milton-Freewater and Carol Clark of Portland; daughters, Kathy Bull and her husband Ken of Kennewick, Wash. and Angela Langway of Beaverton; sons, Allen Heskett and Hap Heskett both of Milton-Freewater; sisters, Twyla Harmon of Sandy, Tammy Heskett of Happy Valley, and Betty Jo Gehring of Beavercreek; and seven grandchildren.

There will be a private family gathering. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
