Charlaine Ann Powers, 63, a long-time resident of Enterprise known to friends and family as “Sis,” died Feb. 29, 2012, at VIBRA Specialty Hospital in Portland.

She was born in Oregon City to Thomas John (Jack) and Dorothy Kecker Powers. The family moved to Wallowa County – a place she loved and never wanted to leave – when she was a year old.

Sis graduated from Enterprise High School in 1966 and attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande.

In addition to working at the Circle T restaurant and Sontia’s Café Ole, she later worked as a bookkeeper for Alpine Insurance, and then Wheatland Insurance.

In the past she was an active member of Wallowa County Junior Women. She loved being an aunt to all her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Jim Dutli of Yakima, Wash., and Jackie and Ron Wagner of Talent; two nieces, three nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. Sis is also survived by her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of her life will be held May 19. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
