Edgar Eugene Thomas Jr., 76, of Maupin, died April 6, 2003.

He was born April 8, 1926, in Enterprise to Edgar E. and Portia (Steel) Thomas.

After graduating from Enterprise High School, he was drafted into the Army and served during WWII in Okinawa. After retiring from the military after 20 years, he worked for United Airlines for 20 years before retiring for good in the early 1980s.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing in New Zealand and Maupin and hunting in Wasco and Wallowa counties.

Survivors include his brothers Wayne Thompson of West Linn and James Thomas of Roseville, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date when his ashes will be scattered. No public services will be scheduled.
