Florence Brennan, 78, of Joseph, died Nov. 7, 2003, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Wallowa County, she was born in Enterprise to Cyrus and Josephine (Scott) Whitman on Oct. 9, 1925.
After graduating from Joseph High School as salutatorian in 1943, she married Mike Brennan. She worked for the Bank of Wallowa County (now Community Bank) for 13 years, volunteered at Senior Meals and the Wallowa County Museum, traveled to Yuma, Ariz., for winters and enjoyed outings with the Little Swiss Rovers and Paradise Sams RV Clubs. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and was known for her warm hospitality, understanding ear, and generous heart.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Mike; sons Mike, Jim, Dennis and Will and their wives; daughters Pat, Mary, Tammy, and Caroline and their husbands; sisters Vivian Guy and Ruth Sandefur; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great -grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Whitman.
