On Sunday, July 19, 2015 the Lord took Gwen Kendall, age 88, to her eternal home.

Gwen was born Florence Gwendolyn to Ralph and Dell Long on June 4, 1927 in Rupert, Idaho. She attended school in Jerome, Idaho and Lyndon and Yakima, Wash. She graduated from Yakima High in January of 1946.

On June 8, 1946 she married Robert Charles Kendall in Yakima, Wash. Soon after, they moved to Enterprise where they shared 55 years of marriage and raised three children: Robin, Bob Jr. and Jeff.

In her younger days, Gwen worked in the strawberry fields in Washington. In Enterprise, besides her duties as wife and mother, she worked at Harold’s Apparel and later for Dr. Bryce Moffitt.

Gwen was a member of Saint Patrick’s Episcopal church, where she served as a lay reader for several years. She was also a member of the Good Sams Club. Gwen enjoyed camping, crocheting, reading, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. She was also an animal lover, having several dogs and her longtime feline friend, Callie.

In 2008, Gwen moved to Wild Flower Lodge in La Grande where she was a resident until July of 2014, when she moved to Hood River.

Gwen will always be remembered by her family for being a good cook, being quick witted, and having a loving, tender heart. She was a servant to all. She is survived by her children Robin and Randy Warner, of Cove, Bob and Marcia Kendall, of Hood River, and Jeff and Linda Kendall, of Wallowa; her seven grandchildren Mara (Dan) Niezen, Charity (Phillip) Ketscher, Casey (Beth) Kendall, Jennifer Kendall, Cody (Jolene) Kendall, Jeffery Kendall and Jennifer Goodale; her 17 great-grandchildren; her brother Ralph (Roberta) Long and sisters Mary Collier and Elizabeth Himelson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Long and Dell Marquard, and her husband, Bob Kendall.
