Joy Holmes Laughlin, 78, died April 1, 2003, in Enterprise. He was born April 2, 1924, in Joseph to Thayer M. and Myrtle V. (Holmes) Laughlin.

After serving in the Army during WWII, Mr. Laughlin married his wife, Elizabeth in 1848 in Oceanport, N. J. She died in 1996. He worked as a road engineer until he retired and was a member of St. Katherine's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Michael Rountree of Ventura, Calif. and Margaret and Jackie Boggs of Willits, Calif.; a brother, Asa Laughlin; sisters and brothers-in-law Doreen and Ersal Wortman and Mamie and Norman McCrae; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; a son, Stanley Laughlin and his parents.

A memorial service was held April 8 at the VFW Hall in Enterprise.
