Laurena W. Vance, 72, died March 16, 2003, at home in Salem where she had lived for the past 10 years. She was born April 24, 1930, to Harry A. and Edna W. (Weaver) Kennison in Wallowa.

After graduating from Wallowa High School in 1948, she married Ray T. Vance. While living in Enterprise, Mrs. Vance worked at First National Bank and Ortman Insurance. After moving to Alaska, the Vances divorced, and she remained in the north for 33 years. She is remembered for her volunteer work with the senior center and hospital gift shop in Salem for many years.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Kenton and Julie Vance of Keyport, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Sannar of Pendleton; a brother, Harry Kennison of Salem, two granddaughters; a great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Harry Kennison and her stepfather and mother, Trell and Edna Kennison Coleman.

At Mrs. Vance's request, no services were performed and her ashes will be scattered in Alaska.
