Lynn "Gail" Hart of La Grande died in Seattle, Washington, following a lung transplant.

The former owner of the Stange Manor in La Grande and the Haines Steakhouse in Haines, she had many friends in Wallowa County.

Gail was born in Pendleton July 29, 1949.

She attended school in La Grande, Pendleton, Cove and Union, graduating in 1967.

She married Stephen L. Hart of Union on June 11, 1968.

They lived many places across the United States as well as Hawaii.

After leaving Navy life in 1978 they settled in Union County and Haines, where they operated the Haines Steak House for about 20 years.

After selling the restaurant, they put up a new house in La Grande and moved there in 2005.

Gail is survived by her daughters and families: Christen Hart of La Grande; Becky Hart Hinson, of McCall, Idaho; mother Bernadine Sharp Dunbar Curry and father Gene of La Grande; sisters, Jeanne Dunbar Stitzel of Valdez, Alaska; Cindy Dunbar Shanks of Spokane, Wash.; brother, Wes Dunbar; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her birth father Charles Thomas Dunbar.

Gail loved handwork, crafts, planting trees and flowers and was very passionate about organ donation.

A celebration of life is scheduld for Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Riverside Park Pavillion in La Grande beginning at 2 p.m.
