Martha Ann Hunter Hook, 76, of Walla Walla, Wash., died at the home of niece Debbie Shuman in Walla Walla Dec. 31, 2011.

She was born to Crawford L. and Ethel Hays Hunter at Lostine. Martha graduated from Lostine High School.

In December 1956 she married Elvis Hook, and they had two sons, Archie and Charlie.

Martha enjoyed the outdoors and such activities as fishing, mushrooming or sitting around a fire. She also enjoyed crocheting, whether it be doilies, bead spreads or a baby’s afghan.

Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who always brought a smile to her face.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marian Kizer.

She is survived by her sons, Chuck Hook of Alaska and Archie Hook and his wife, Vicqui of Wallowa; four grandchildren; sisters Wyleigh Carper, Carol Creswell and Ruth Shuman; her brother, Bill Hunter; and many nieces and nephews.

The family is planning a celebration of life at 1 p.m. May 19, 2012, at the Lostine Cemetery.
