Donald “Buck” H. Beier passed away at his home in Joseph. He had been battling diabetes and kidney failure over the past couple of years. He was 73.
He was born in McMinnville, Ore., to Herbert Henry Beier and Fleda Ethel Stretch Beier. Fleda passed away when Buck was four. Herb moved to Joseph with his sons, David and Don, where he met and married Gwen Skaggs.
Buck was the youngest brother to David Beier, and step brother to Bill Skaggs and Beverly Skaggs. Buck graduated from Joseph High School in 1963.
He attended college in Spokane, Wash., where he received a degree in accounting. He married Lucille A. Victor, and they had four daughters. They later divorced.
He met and married his second wife Marsha and gained a stepson. He lived and worked in the Seattle area until he and Marsha returned to Joseph in 1999 where he took a bookkeeping position with Parmenter Studios.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David and his step brother Bill.
He leaves behind his wife Marsha, daughters and sons-in-law: Angie and Paul Wooden, April and Les Guske, Allison and Bryan Machovsky, Amy and Dan Engelhaupt and Stepson Kyle Goodwin. Also 12 grandchildren: Amanda and Tanner Wooden, Joe, Jessica, Jadyn and Julia Guske; Charlie, Tyler and Branyan Shulkin; and Aidan, Jake and Mason Engelhaupt and his step sister Beverly Skaggs Jones.
Buck lived to play golf (literally!). He always had a positive attitude and a smile. He enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of his home in Wallowa County. He loved spending time with family and friends.
At Buck’s request there will be no service. However, a casual open house gathering is planned 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Buck and Marsha’s home 603 N. Mill Street, in Joseph. Please drop by, have a drink for Buck and share your memories.
