Christine "Christie" M. Brown, a resident of Pendleton, died Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash. She was 54.

Mrs. Brown was born Feb. 4, 1953, in Vallejo, Calif., to Frank J and Lucille A. Miranda Telles. She was raised and educated in Vallejo, and graduated from St. Vincent Catholic High School in Vallejo with the class of 1971. After high school, she attended Eastern Oregon University for a time, and also lived in Wallowa County where she worked at the hospital in Enterprise.

She moved to Pendleton and later graduated from Blue Mountain Community College as a registered nurse. After becoming a nurse she worked for Dr. Robert Boss in Hermiston for a short time, before she began working as a nurse at the Eastern Oregon Psychiatric Center in Pendleton. She worked there from 1988 until she transferred to the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in 1997, where she worked as a nurse until February of this year when she retired for health reasons. She married John Brown in Yachats.

Mrs. Brown greatly enjoyed the mountains, camping, hiking and collecting. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and playing with her granddaughter, Kaylee.

She was a member of and a former union representative for the Oregon Nurses Association.

Survivors include her husband John of Pendleton; mother Lucille Sosnosky of Port Orchard, Wash.; son Michael Peden of Pendleton; daughter Miranda and Christopher Zimmerman of Pendleton; sisters Deborah Rezente of Port Orchard, Wash. and Carolyn Cudney of Vallejo, Calif. and granddaughter Kaylee Zimmerman of Pendleton.

Her father preceded her in her death.

Memorial services were held Oct. 30, 2007, in the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.
