Floyd Dean Root died Sept. 22, 2007, in Hemet, Calif. He was 99.
Mr. Root was born in Prattville, Mich., on Feb. 29, 1908, in a farming family with three brothers and one sister.
He grew up in Michigan where he met his wife Ruth. They married in 1932.
They moved to Oxnard, Calif. in 1944, and then moved to Ontario, Calif. in 1952 where they lived until moving to Hemet in 1973. T
he couple celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in January of this year.
Mr. Root had worked as an electrician for over 45 years when he retired in 1973. He enjoyed woodworking, travel and working on various projects in his workshop.
He liked a good joke, playing cards and keeping up with the news.
Mr. Root is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Norman Pratt of Enterprise; daughter Betty McClintock of San Diego, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Laurie Root of Upland, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 2007.
