James Holum

May 6, 1927 – March 22, 2012

James M. Holum died at his home in Enterprise March 22, 2012, at the age of 84.

James was born in Sacred Heart, Minn., the oldest of seven children of Jens and Mable Holum. Jens had been a widower and had seven older children as well.

James grew up in Sacred Heart on the family farm until his family moved to Oregon about 1943. He joined the army at age 18, serving September 1945 through March 1947. He was stationed in Japan and Hawaii.

After he was discharged he married Marjorie Myra-Holum. They had five children, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

James worked in the building construction trade in Clackamas County for many years until 1971, when they moved to Deschutes County, where he was a building inspector until his retirement in 1992. After he retired, James and Marjorie moved to Enterprise.

James loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and working in his yard. He enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could.

His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Enterprise Christian Church, 207 E. Main St., Enterprise.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3101 SW Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97239, would be appreciated.
