Jan. 9, 1955 – Aug. 8, 2014

Phillip Robert Prince died Aug. 8, 2014, in rural Joseph at the age of 59.

He was born in Enterprise on Jan. 9, 1955, to Alvin and Dolores (Cox) Prince.

During he life he lived in Walla Walla, Wash., and Wallowa County. He graduated from Madras High School.

He was married to Patricia Kerns; they were later divorced.

He was self-employed in construction and horse training. He was well known for racing and training horses, and set several track records.

He is survived by his mother, Dolores Cox Hayes; sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Kara Prince of Milton-Freewater and Kristopher and Diana Prince of Walla Walla; brothers, Steve Prince and wife Peggy of Wallowa, and Dave Hyatt of Madras; sister Vicky Roff of Madras; and seven grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
