Robert Tucker

Robert H. “Bob” Tucker, 97, of Walla Walla, Wash., former Enterprise resident, died July 27, 2012 at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.  

Bob was born in Harwood, Md., to Roland and Margaret Ellen Simmons Tucker.

Bob served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged July 30, 1946.

After high school and attending vocational school, Bob became a Cadillac mechanic in Baltimore and spent many years in that trade, ending up in Boise, Idaho.  Bob went to work for the GSA motor pool in 1966, retiring in 1974.

After a blind date arranged by friends, Bob married Elna Ewing in June 1975. They lived in Milton-Freewater until 1994 when they moved to Enterprise. The couple returned to Walla Walla in 2008.  

He is survived by his wife, Elna, and many nieces and nephews; special daughters Mary Haasch and Karen Buchanan; and nephew Brian Tucker and family of Pennsylvania.

Bob was a “rock hound” and loved faceting jewelry.  He also enjoyed bird watching and road trips.  Bob and Elna enjoyed many travels around the United States and Canada.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.  Visitation hours will be on Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater,  OR 97862.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice through the funeral home.
