Orin S. Morgan, 98, of Walla Walla, Wash., died July 3, 2003, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

He was born Jan. 9, 1905, in Fruita in Wallowa County to Albert and Rhoena (Howard) Morgan.

After graduating from Gilroy High School in California in 1924, Mr. Morgan returned to Imnaha to help out on the ranch. Later he went to college and earned a teaching certificate from Monmouth Normal School (now Western Oregon University) in 1926. Starting in Wallowa, he worked as an elementary school teacher and principal in Troy, Wallowa, Helix, Canby, Lyons, Corvallis, and finally The Dalles, when he retired in 1976. He enjoyed archery, photography, hunting, fishing and trips to the Wallowa Mountains.

Survivors include his wife Ruby of Walla Walla, Wash.; a daughter, Cheryl Knox of Eugene; sons Lorin Dean Morgan of Walla Walla and Albert Howard Morgan of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.

Services were held July 8 at Mountain View Cemetery with interment following; Darius Morris of the Church of Christ officiated.
