Ruby West-Dawson, 87, of Kennewick, Wash., and formerly of Walla Walla, Wash., died April 2, 2003, following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Wallowa County to George and Margaret (MacDonald) Moffit. After attending schools in Wallowa County, she moved to Walla Walla in 1932.

In 1937, she married Dale West, and after his death in 1975 she married George Dawson. The couple summered in Joseph and wintered in Arizona. He died in 1984. Mrs. Dawson was known as an excellent cook and an immaculate housekeeper.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Stephen D. and Judy West of Pasco, Wash., and Jeffrey D. and Charisse West of Liberty Lake, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Palmer of Enterprise; a brother, Bud Moffit of La Grande; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale West and George Dawson; sisters Florence Stickler and Mae Roop; and four brothers, Butch, Ted, Cliff and Dan Moffit.

At her request, no services were held and interment took place at Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla or to a charity of the donor's choice through Meuller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St., P. O. Box 2546, Pasco, WA 99302.
