Stanley Joseph Somborski Gunshore, 89, died Oct. 7, 2003, after a short illness. He was born Feb. 10, 1914 in Plains, Penn., to Peter and Veronica Somborski. After his parents and a twin died in an influenza epidemic in 1917, he was adopted by Joseph and Rosa Gunshore in 1918.

Mr. Gunshore married Bertha Bogacki in 1940. He was a friendly, outgoing gentleman as well as an avid fisherman, gardener, woodworker and lover of animals who fed birds from his hand.

Survivors include his daughter, Maryanne Spence of Enterprise; a son, Joseph Gunshore of Greer, S. C.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Bollman Funeral Home with private interment to follow at the Enterprise Cemetery.
