Vivian Holly Etherton Lorren, 94, died Dec. 5, 2002, in Auburn, Wash. She was born Dec. 13, 1907 in Carbondale, Ill.

In 1948, Vivian, along with her husband, Thomas, and children moved to the Pacific Northwest from Illinois. The family built a small cabin at Wallowa Lake and eventually made it their permanent residence.

Vivian was known as a fearless cook; loved to sew, knit, crochet and quilt; could make anything grow; loved music and was a church organist and pianist for many years; and adopted animals in need.

Mrs. Lorren is survived by her four children, Thomas Alton Lorren, Jr. of Texas; Sharon Lorren Smith of Washington state; Larry Cordell Lorren of California and Patricia Lorren Parmele of Nebraska; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be buried next to her late husband, Thomas, at the Enterprise Cemetery on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002.
