Warren B. Voss, 83, of Joseph, died Nov. 5, 2003, at the Walla Walla Veterans' Hospital. He was born August 18, 1920 in Faulkton, S. D. as the fifth of nine children of Charles Siegel and Anna Amanda (Hanson) Voss.

After graduating from Stevensville (Mont.) High School in 1938, he married Anna Marguerite Huffstetter in 1941. After joining the Army in 1944, he served as a sharpshooter in the 383rd Infantry Division in the Pacific Theater and participated in the liberation of the Philippines, during which he was severely wounded by mortar fire. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal.

After being discharged from the military in 1948, the couple moved to a small farm on Upper Prairie Creek. After his first wife's death in 1980, he married Ethel Harshfield in 1982.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Carol Voss of Joseph; son Richard Voss of Beavercreek; three brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marguerite; a son, Dennis; his parents; two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Nov. 7 at the Bollman Funeral Home, with interment following at the Prairie Creek Cemetery in Joseph. Memorial contribution may be made to the charity of the giver's choice care of the Bollman Funeral Home.
