William "Bill" Guy Hooker, 92, of Union, died Dec. 24, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 15, 1920 in Cleveland, Wash., to Joseph J. and Emma Selinda Fletcher Hooker. After moving to Asotin, Wash. as a toddler, Mr. Hooker grew up and attended schools there. After marrying Frances Harriet Wilsey in 1932, he moved to Lewiston, Idaho, and then to Pondosa for many years. In 1945, the couple moved to Union where Bill was a Forest Service employee for many years. Mr. Hooker loved hunting and fishing, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke around.

Mr. Hooker is survived by his wife, Frances, of Union; daughter Norma J. Ringer of La Grande; son and daughter-in-law William C. and Carol Hooker of Union; sister-in-law and husband Donna Jean and George Scriver of Graham, Wash.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law John J. and Mabel Hooker and Eugene Lyman and Opal Almira Hooker; sister Pearl Moore; half-sister Blanche Clark; half brothers Frank Johnson and Charlie Johnson; and son-in-law Aaron Ringer.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at the Union Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Peters of Union United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are being made by the Loveland Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Union United Methodist Church, in care of Loveland Funeral Home, 1508 4th Street, La Grande, OR 97850.
