Shari Warnock, teacher at Imnaha School (and member of this month's birthday club) reports that a can drive is underway at the school. Returnable cans may be placed in the trailer parked at the school. (Thanks Buz!) Funds raised are earmarked for the end-of-the-school-year trip. If opportunity arises for students to see a musical play, the can money may be used to help with expenses Last year, the students attended the play "Tom Sawyer" in Pendleton. The cans will be collected until Oct. 19.
The Imnaha School is able to take advantage of the 10 percent Back to Schools program. Those who have shopped at Safeway since the beginning of the school year and purchased certain items will receive a reward certificate at the checkout after Oct. 1. The certificates should be presented to the school no later than Oct. 17.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Imnaha School open house at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct.19. This is a very informal get-together to showcase student projects and activities. Those wearing tuxedos and ball gowns may be removed at the teacher's discretion.
Students have been studying the Revolutionary War and learning about the solar system. They hope to have a telescope set up for the open house. Though no direct accusations have been made, it is interesting that the entire planet of Pluto has gone missing at the same time the kids have turned their attention skyward. An apple tasting station will be set up along with several apple desserts. Yum!
