Wallowa County Outdoors: Rains rescuing weary trout in low, hot water

Mac Huff

Sweltering heat last week took its toll on water conditions in Wallowa County. The hot, dry days were a blessing for Joseph's blues festival, but did nothing to help fishing anywhere in the county.

Water levels in Wallowa County streams held up well through July because of frequent rainfall, but August brought hot, dry conditions that quickly reduced streams to conditions well below averages that now mirror last year's meager water flows.
