You've been very generous in supporting the on-going Care Package Campaign, sponsored by the Chieftain, KWVR and Ted Hayes Signs. Especially with paperback books - we have a small mountain of them here.

After talking with a few soldiers, including two who have been in Iraq, three more items are in high demand: AA batteries, freeze dried coffee packets and spices of any kind.

Batteries are huge to today's young soldiers, who enjoy listening to CD players and play portable video games when they have a little time to themselves. These take batteries.

Also, we hear that MREs, while nutritious, leave a little to be desired in the taste department. Spices, including salt and pepper, in non-breakable containers help out a lot.

And the freeze dried coffee ... ever pull 10 12-hour shifts in a row? Then you know what those are for.

We thank you for your continued support in this effort. All donated items should be brought to the Chieftain office during regular business hours.
