To the Editor:

I would like to apologize to the people manning the John Kerry booth on July 4 in Lostine. I, in an attempt to glorify my letter to the editor [of Sept. 23], used the word assassinate.

After talking by telephone with some of the people in that booth, I know they would never suggest assassinating Bush. I again apologize for my misuse and misunderstanding of what the words "off a cliff" meant to me.
