To the Editor:

I find myself thinking about Chief Joseph Days more this year than I have in a long time. In the last few years I have always had other thing more pressing, most to do with the military. I always like to come up to "The County" during this time and see if I would find anyone I had known. The Friday night at the Gold Room or Cactus Jack's or whatever it was called at the time was a big event; the cowboy breakfast on Saturday; helping with the morning after Friday night; taking the kids to the carnival and the rodeo. This year I wish I could not put it off. It seem that the Army has other plans, though. My leave from Iraq will be the middle of August, not the end of July. Next year I think I will have to make up for several missed years. I hope you all have a great time. See you next year.
