This letter is to express our appreciation for the wonderful time my wife and I had at the 2006 Hell's Canyon Mule Days activities. We are retired Cheney Washington teachers now living in Chelan and had not been to your county for more than 30 years. We enjoy smaller groups of people, substance over frills, working people and getting value for our dollars. HCMD was all we hoped for and more. There was room to find a seat in the grandstand, pretty much whenever we wanted to watch the competition, and we found plenty of excitement, enthusiasm and expertise among the contestants. We were pleased with the variety of venders present and found tack items we had been looking for, as well as plenty of extras. The breakfast was very good and a nice place to meet some locals and long time farmers from the valley. We especially enjoyed the BBQ, it was well-organized with plenty of excellent food to eat. The prices for admission and food were more than fair, which is unusual in today's market. We enjoyed the Cowboy Poet/ Music program and the Reddington family from Cove, especially. Hats off to Sondra Lozier and the staff of volunteers who make it happen. We experienced your small town hospitality and liked it. We will pass the word among our Methow Valley Backcountry Horsemen chapter and plan to come again next year.
