On Saturday afternoon at Joseph High, the powerhouse Eagles girls basketball team uncovered an untapped source of offense. In the fourth quarter, Joseph (19-1 overall, 6-0 in the Old Oregon conference) was cruising onto its ninth consecutive victory, a blowout win over visiting-Pine Eagle, 67-33. With eight minutes to go, freshman guard Anna Bird came off the bench and stole the show.

Though the starters had already set a dominating pace, Bird kept that going. In the fourth quarter, she was on target with nearly everything she tried. Save for sophomore Shelby Harshman's free throw, Bird did all of Joseph's scoring. First, she nailed a three-pointer. That was her first bucket in more than two weeks. But she wasn't done. She went on to make three more baskets and finished with nine points. That tripled her previous season-high.
