UNION – After waiting until Monday to finally get in an important doubleheader that was rescheduled from last Friday due to bad weather, the Wallowa-Imbler Cats could have just as well called off the whole exercise. The Union-Cove Bobcats swept the visiting Cats, 5-1 and 6-3.

Cats Coach Jeremy McCulloch said his team’s pitching was basically OK, with Wes Conrad handling the chore alone in the first game and Andrew Fullerton likewise requiring no relief in the second, but the starters weren’t well supported, either at the plate or in the field.

“We couldn’t hit the ball very well, [committed] several errors and kind of beat ourselves,” McCulloch said.

Over the course of the double-header, Fullerton and Conrad provided the only extra-base power, Fullerton stroking two doubles and Conrad one. Teammates Jessy Lawrence and Spencer Shelton added two singles apiece.

Wallowa-Imbler’s league record is now 5-3, putting the Cats in third place. The team plays school alumni this week, which of course doesn’t count in league. A five-way league tourney begins the following weekend.
