Joseph was the big winner locally finishing second in Enterprise's dual meet on Friday and in third place overall with 110.1 in Saturday's championship round. Enterprise finished the tournament in fourth with 103 points. Wallowa finished in seventh with 24.1 points.

The 152 pound match saw Joseph's Aaron White win a major decision of 13-3 over Zeke Martin of Grant Union.

"We had a great weekend," said Joseph Wrestling Coach Dave Yost." Our performance here is about head and shoulders above where we were over the first two weeks. We really turned the corner yesterday and today," he said.

The Eagles had a close match up with Grant Union on Friday that Joseph won in the last match with Joseph's 189 pounder, Clayton Lowe pinning his grant Union opponent to win it 36-34..

Collin Cunningham wrestling at 145 pounds, was slammed to the mat in a match that ended in a default win for Nick Steiner of Grant Union.

Cunningham was taken to Wallowa Memorial Hospital to be checked out for a possible concussion.

"Overall we did great for only having six wrestlers," said EHS Wrestling Coach Troy Farwell. "Jimmy Van Belle and Austin Himes had a great tournament," he added.

Wallowa's Brandon Frei had a good showing for the Cougars finishing second after being pinned by Zac Meyers of Imbler in the second period of the match. "Brandon did very well today he used his head and wrestled smart," said Wallowa Wrestling Coach Jason Crenshaw.

The Cougars had a number of wrestlers out due to illness and didn't have a full team present

"It's going to be a good year the kids have a positive attitude and that's what counts really in the long run," Crenshaw said.
