Wesley Conrad homered twice and pitched five shutout innings for Wallowa's Little League baseball team June 4, as the White Sox trounced the Mariners 13-4 at Joseph's Blackburn Field.
By the final inning, the White Sox had a 12-0 lead courtesy Conrad's lightning arm and potent bat. The team quickly scored five runs in the first inning, three via Conrad's blast over the fence in right-center field. At bat a second time, he produced a virtual replay: another home run to the same spot, this time a little farther. Spencer Shelton scored on the hit, and the Sox led 8-0.
On the pitchers' mound, meanwhile, Conrad overpowered the Mariners. He struck out his first two batters. In the third inning, Brock Hickman tripled down the line in right field - the M's only hit off the hard-throwing right-hander.
When Conrad finally stopped pitching, the Mariners' bats snapped to life. They scored four runs in the sixth inning. Daniel Parker made his first hit of the season, a triple. He later scored on Max Greenway's double.
