Cougar running backs Randy Spaur and Jake Redfield combined for 332 yards rushing and six touchdowns to lead Wallowa to a 58-20 Old Oregon League victory over Cove Friday afternoon. The win gives Wallowa three wins on the season.

Wallowa jumped out to a 16-6 lead in the first quarter. Redfield crossed the goal line for the Cougars first score of the contest on a 20 yard run. Cougar quarterback Jeff Kendall connected with wide receiver Ryan Harshfield on a 51 yard strike later in the quarter to extend Wallowa's lead.

Spaur and Patrick Silveria added two scores in the second quarter on runs of two and four yards respectively, upping Wallowa's lead to 30-6.

The Leopards offense matched Wallowa's scoring efforts in the second with runs by Tanner Marshall of 26 and 40 yards respectively cutting Wallowa's lead to ten points at the half 30-20.

The Orange and Black defense took control of the contest in the second half snagging an on side kick in the beginning of the third quarter. Three plays later Redfield crossed the goal line to give the Cougars a 36-20 advantage.

Spaur tacked on another score in the third on a 19 yard scamper to give the Cougars a 44-20 lead heading into the final quarter of the contest.

The fourth quarter belonged to the freshman Redfield who scored on a six yard pass play from Kendall followed by a five yard TD run later in the quarter to give the Cougars the victory at 58-20.

Wallowa coach Greg Oveson said that the kids carried over the momentum that they gained in their second half victory last week against Adrian. "Our offense and defense are finally coming around," Oveson said. " We got some pretty good defensive pressure on the ball and the offense was able to move the ball when they needed to," he added.
