Wallowa High School girl’s varsity team took on the Huntington Locos Nov. 30 at Elgin and came away with a 67-8 win. The Cougars led after the first quarter 16-3 and led 40-6 at the half.

Cougar player Jamie Johsnton led scoring with 16 points each, followed by Rylee Goller with 13, Haley Brockamp, Riley Ferré, Bailey Hafer, Kyla Hook and Shanna Rae Tillery each with six, Ella Moeller with four and Samantha Wightman and Ashlyn Young two each.

Ferré and Johnston each had two fouls, Goller and Moeller each had a foul.

The win brings the Cougars to 1-1 for the season. The Cougars scored most of their points in the first half of the game.

Wallowa High School boy’s varsity team came away with a 55-37 win. The Cougars led after the first quarter 13-9 and led 27-12 at the half. 

Cougar Wyatt Prince led scoring with 20 points, followed Mason Moore with 16, Tristin Bales with 14, Ryan Hafer with three and Zane Mallory with two.

Cougar player Zeb Hermens had five of fouls, Bales had four, Hafer, Mallory and Moore each had two and Freddy DeVore and Prince each had one. 

The win brings the Cougars to 1-1 for the season. The Cougars scored most of their points in the second half of the game. Cougar player DeVore broke his ankle in the game and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Elgin

Wallowa High School boy’s varsity team took on the Elgin Huskies Dec. 1 at Elgin and came away with a 40-50 loss. The Cougars were tied at the first quarter 8-8 and trailed 18-19 at the half. 

Cougar player Christopher Nobles led scoring with 14 points, followed by Wyatt Prince with 13, Ryan Hafer and Mason Moore each had four, Tristin Bales three and Zane Mallory two.

Cougar player Bales and Hafer each had five fouls, Nobles had four fouls, Moore had three fouls, and Zeb Hermens, Mallory and Prince each had a foul.

The loss brings the Cougars to 1-2 for the season. The Cougars scored most of their points in the second half of the game. The next boy’s game will be the Wallowa Lions Tournament 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

Wallowa High School girl’s varsity team also lost to Elgin, 30-45. The Cougars led after the first quarter 13-6 and led 17-16 at the half.

Cougar player Shanna Rae Tillery led scoring with eight points, followed by Kyla Hook with seven, Riley Ferré with six, Ashlyn Young with five points and Bailey Hafer and Jamie Johnston contributed two points each.

Cougar player Ferré had five personal fouls and one technical, Ella Moeller had three, Rylee Goller, Tillery and Young had each had two fouls, and Hafer and Johnston each had a foul.

The loss brings the Cougars to 1-2 for the season. The Cougars scored most of their points in the first half of the game.
