Cougars third in Old Oregon League

Wallowa High School Varsity Volleyball squad turned an up-and-down season into a third place finish Saturday in Old Oregon League tournament in La Grande.

The girls had the unfortunate experience of facing powerhouse Powder Valley in its first game of the day. They swept the Cougars in three straight, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-13.

But things got better as the day went along.

Next, it was Wallowa’s turn to run the boards against Imbler, winning three straight, 33-31, 26-24 and 25-14.

The final game of the tournament saw the Cougars besting Cove in five sets, 25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 17-35 and 15-5.

Wallowa moves into post-season play 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 with an away game against Adrian.

Wallowa stands at 13-13 overall, 8-4 in league play. Adrian is 18-11 overall and 5-2 in its league and ranked No. 16 in 1A volleyball statewide.
