The Joseph High volleyball team lost its first league match of the season, falling in four games on Saturday at Cove.

The Lady Eagles began the day with a tight game, beating the Leopards, 26-24. After that, however, they struggled. Cove took the next three in a row (25-16, 25-18 and 25-13) to win the match.

"We started off strong, but then we just didn't show up for those last few games," Joseph coach Kendall Hayes said. "We play well when we want to. Hopefully, we learned a lesson."

On Tuesday night, Joseph hosted Wallowa in a league match, but it was scheduled too late to be included in this edition of the Chieftain.

This Saturday, Joseph will get another shot at Cove. This time, they will compete at Sather Court with the start at 1 p.m.
