The Joseph girls basketball team dropped both of their games at the Pine-Eagle Tournament in Halfway over the weekend. The E-gals played Marsing, Idaho in the opener on Friday afternoon playing well through the first half of the contest to hold a 25-14 lead at the half.

Marsing was a different team in the second half out scoring Joseph 45- 23 to win the contest 59-48.

"Our biggest problem against Marsing was that we did not take care of the boards," said Joseph Coach Wendy McDaniel. "We let Amanda Stewart get a lot of put backs in the second half and that killed us," she added."

Stewart scored 30 points in the contest 24 of which came during the second half of the game.

Anna Yost led Joseph's scoring with 18.

The Eagles played Powder Valley in the consolation round and had their hands full dropping the contest 69-33.

"We won't win any ball games playing the way we did against Powder Valley," McDaniel said.

The Blue and Gold were unable to get any momentum going in the contest after falling behind 18-4 at the end of the first quarter. Joseph made a run in the second period out scoring Powder Valley 13-12 but were unable to capitalize as Powder Valley ignited in the second half out scoring the Eagles 39-16 for the win.

Licia Miller led Joseph's scoring with 14.

"My hope is someone will step up and become a leader on our team," McDaniel said. "We had too many turnovers and mental errors," she added.
