E-Gals lose in a squeaker at District

The E-Gals fight their way through districts play in La Grande.

The E-Gals’ first match at the district tournament Saturday in La Grande was a great game and really showcased the talent on the team. The Gals fought hard against the state’s No. 5-ranked Powder Valley, scorching the Badgers in the first game 25-7. Enterprise also took the third game, but fell short in a close, deciding fifth game (25-7, 16-25, 25-18, 16-25, 11-15).

It was an excellent showing and, short of a win, a great way to end the season.

The final match didn’t go so well. The E-Gals were trounced in three games by the No. 16-ranked Echo Cougars after a solid attempt at a comeback in game 2 (25-14, 25-21, 25-11).

They end the season ranked 24th in the sate with a league record of 8-4.

Fans saw some great play this year, no doubt noted some real talent on the JV bench coming up, and can legitimately celebrate the fact that the E-Gals put in solid performances all season.

Coach Jill Hite was unavailable for comment at press time.
