Joseph upped their winning streak to 3-0 in preseason over the weekend defeating Marsing and Pine Eagle at the Pine Eagle Tournament in Halfway.

The Eagles high octane team defeated Marsing, Idaho in the tournament opener 61-31 on Friday night. Joseph dominated the first three quarters of play to head into the fourth quarter with a convincing 52-25 advantage.

"We did a pretty good job of shutting them down," said Joseph coach Ron Lathrop. " We are playing better as a team and putting three or four boys in double figures,' he added.

Eric Butterfield led the Blue and Gold attack with 19 points in the contest. Jake Layton and Corey Otten added 14 and 12 points respectively in the win.

The second game of the weekend pit Joseph against tournament host Pine Eagle. The Spartans were no match for the Eagles as Joseph controlled the game for the first three quarters of the contest building a 46-18 lead heading into the final period.

Four Eagles placed in double figures in the contest. Cole Lathrop led the Joseph scoring with 16 points followed by Butterfield, Layton and Otten with 15,14 and 12 points respectively. Layton and Lathrop also had 10 and eight rebounds for the game.

"I'm really pleased with our results so far," Lathrop said. " They are a good bunch of kids that want to prove themselves as a team," he added.
