Enterprise junior Cole Sajonia clinches first place with a strong game on the back-nine.

Cole Sajonia was the individual champion and led the boys on Enterprise High School's golf team March 19 to a victory in the Heppner Invitational at Echo Hills.

Combining the scores of four boys on varsity, Enterprise needed only 343 strokes to complete 18 holes. Echo settled for second place, 13 strokes over the locals.

Individually, Sajonia shot two-under-par. The junior's total of 70 strokes featured a strong second half. The varsity also took senior Seth Jannuzzi's 87, as well as 93s from both junior Carson Makin and sophomore Brock Hayes.

Other boys played junior varsity. Senior Collie Davidson used the back-nine to trim eight strokes from his total. He ended up with a 104. Likewise, freshman Joseph Harshman cut four strokes for a 108. Freshman Cody Duquette, in his first tournament, shot a 115.

Meanwhile, Enterprise also brought along two girls to warm up for the season. Freshman Jill Morton debuted with a 123. She was consistent, even managing to cut a stroke on the back-nine. Junior Ariel Widener, playing for the first time since her freshman year, posted a 200.

Next, Enterprise varsity boys will travel March 29 to Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, northwest of Portland, for the Oregon Class 2A Invitational.
