Both the Joseph and Enterprise track teams had their first taste of some tough competition over the weekend at the Lions Invitational in Nyssa against some of the top teams in the Wapiti League and from outside of the state. The Joseph boys finished in fourth with 58 points while Enterprise ended the day in ninth with 25. Capital from Idaho won the invite with 174 points with the host team, Nyssa finishing in third with 74 out of the 23 teams present.

Top finishers for Joseph included Kyle Hook's second place throw in the javelin of 150' 7". A personal best for the JHS junior. Also noteworthy was Mike Marks's second place toss of 147' in the discus. The Eagles 1600 meter relay team finished in second with a time of 3:30.40. Cole Lathrop took third place finishes in the 110 and 300 hurdles with a times of 16.80 and 43.79. Joseph's 400 meter relay team finished third with a time of 46.58. Lathrop finished fourth place in the high jump after clearing the bar at 6' even. Sixth place finishers for the Eagles included Corey Otten in the 100 meter dash 11.94; Tristan Patton 400 meter dash, 53.42 and Randall Eschler's vault of 11' in the pole vault.

Enterprise's top finishers included a second place 43.62 finish by Tony Swart in the 300 meter hurdles Swart also had a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 18' 8". Cousin, Michael Swart took a fifth place finish in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:34.20.

Enterprise's 400 meter relay team ended the day in sixth with a time of 47.78.

On the girls side EHS finished 11th with Joseph in 19th. Julie Vernarski cleared the bar at 5' 2" for a second place and personal best in the high jump. Nichole Santiago was the other top finisher for EHS with a second place win in the 300 meter low hurdles with a time of 51.30. She also took a third place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.56. Joseph's top finisher was Julie Butterfield's seventh place finish in the long jump of 14' 9".
