Jo-Hi boys track tripped up with several keys runners out

Blair J. Parker/Chieftain
Jo-Hi's Ben Garnett begins his first-place throw with the shot put. Garnett won the event with a toss of 41-6.

For the past couple of weeks, the Joseph boys track team has steadily increased its point total from meet to meet, but on Thursday at the Union Invitational the Eagles took a step backwards. It was no coincidence that the team struggled to rack up points in the running events when two of the top performers this season - Tristan Patton and Lane Bailey - were absent because of a Future Farmers of America event.

It was the home team Bobcats that commanded the majority of the attention; not just because the team unveiled its new track, but because it beat the second-place finisher Cove by 27 points, 96-69, to claim top honors.
