For the third straight season, Joseph High School girls will play in the state's basketball championship game. The Lady Eagles advanced to this year's Class 1A final by defeating Country Christian High by the score of 48-38 in a semifinal Friday afternoon at Baker High School.

Senior center Nicke Parks scored 18 points for Joseph. Junior Anna Bird added 16.

Last winter, Joseph beat St. Paul High in a rematch for the state title. The previous year, St. Paul edged Joseph in overtime.

Meanwhile, Enterprise High School girls slipped in their run at the Class 2A championship. They lost a semifinal against Santiam High, 54-38, at the Pendleton Convention Center.

In the first three quarters, Ashley Walczak and Heidi Halemeier totaled all of Santiam's scoring. Walczak finished with 26 points, while Halemeier had 21. In the final minutes, teammate Kara Stair chipped in seven points.

Enterprise will play Saturday afternoon in a consolation for third place.
