The Eagle ladies just missed knocking the top-ranked Powder Valley Badgers off their top-ranked perch in a close fought, five set marathon match Sept. 18.

Set scores were 14-25, 25-15, 13-25, 25-19 and 10-16.

Twin killmeisters Emma Hite and Sabrina Albee blazed the trail with 12 and 20 kills respectively. Hite also contributed 12 assists and five serving aces while Albee tallied six assists and a serving ace.

Team members Madelyn Nelson and Camille Crenshaw bagged three kills each and 18 and 21 digs respectively.

Coach Jill Hite said that it was one of the most amazing matches she’s ever seen.

“It was an overall amazing display of volleyball by both teams,” she said. There were numerous rallies that went for quite some time. Each team really showed athleticism and good sportsmanship.”

The Eagles went on to post back-to-back wins against Jordan Valley and Adrian, 3-0, Friday afternoon and lost to McKenzie in tournament play Saturday in the St. Paul Tournament.
