Junior Meagan McKenzie totaled 16 points as Wallowa High School girls won one for their two basketball games Dec. 5 and 6 at a tournament in Echo. The Lady Cougars improved their early record to 1-2.

Most of McKenzie's scoring happened in a 43-31 victory over Irrigon. The Cougars erased their halftime deficit and outscored the Knights by 10 points in the final quarter. McKenzie managed 12 points and 13 rebounds before she fouled out. Freshman guard Skylar Waters had 8 points but also left early due to personal fouls. Senior guard Ayesha Wortman chipped in 7 points.

The following day, a rough second half hurt the Cougars in a 39-24 loss against the Stanfield High Tigers.

Next, the Lady Cougars will go Dec. 12 and 13 to Condon-Wheeler High.
